Check out The Sustainable Design Sales Opportunity Video
Hear from Autodesk director of sustainability, Lynelle Cameron, why now is the time to help our customers address global sustainability challenges with Autodesk sustainable design tools.
Sustainable Design at OTC
We're excited to offer a variety of opportunities for you to learn more about the sustainable design sales opportunity and what it means to you and our customers:
Stop by the "Sustainable Design" networking area at the evening receptions on Monday and Tuesday and talk with product specialists.
Don't miss the brief presentation Sell Green, Make Green - with Autodesk Sustainable Design Tools during the evening reception on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
Join the various OTC sessions and OTU classes on sustainable design taking place throughout the event.
Green Concierge
There are also many ways you can make your stay in Las Vegas more eco-friendly. This year, we'll have a Green Concierge desk onsite to provide you with tips for greening your OTC experience. Here are some of the ways you can prepare before you travel:
Look into public or shared transportation options from home to your departure airport.
Coordinate with colleagues to share a taxi from the airport to your hotel.
Consider making reservations with an airport shuttle service.
If renting a car, ask if your car rental company has hybrid cars available.
Bring your own coffee mug to use at hotel coffee shops and at the show.
Pack your own soap and shampoo so you won't have to use those provided by the hotel.
Visit the Green Concierge desk onsite for more tips on reducing your environmental impact at OTC.
Greening OTC
This year, Autodesk will continue to reduce waste, energy and water consumption throughout the event through deliberate efforts including:
Using electronic media—email, websites, blogs—for most OTC communications.
Distributing biodegradable badge holders with organic cotton lanyards, many of them reused from Autodesk University.
Giving a Stainless Steel reusable water bottle to all attendees at registration for use throughout the conference.
Placing water dispensers in convenient locations throughout our meeting space and not distributing any single-use plastic water bottles.
Using recycled and compostable plateware, utensils and takeaway containers.
Sorting meal leftovers and scraps to send to a local farm for feed.
Printing fewer materials and requiring a greater use of recycled paper for materials that are printed.
Using 100% post-consumer recycled paper for the OTC onsite guide.
Renting or re-using all Autodesk booth properties in the networking reception hall so no new booth components were created for "one-off" uses.
Printing all of the floor-standing directional signage on "bio-board", a recyclable paper-based corrugated material.
Using fabric, versus vinyl, for large banners and other hanging signage and designing them to be repurposed at future events.
Placing recycle bins next to trash bins throughout the OTC event space and clearly communicating what items can be recycled.
Working with our partner hotels in Las Vegas to be more environmentally responsible.
In addition to all of our efforts, listed above, we are proud to say that the Venetian's onsite Canyon Ranch Café is one of the few Las Vegas restaurants that serve vegetarian, vegan and organic fare. In addition, the Venetian partner hotel, The Palazzo, where many OTC attendees will be staying, recently made history as the largest building project in the world to receive a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, certificate from the U.S. Building Council. Not only is it the largest, it is four times bigger than the second largest LEED-certified structure.
